MADE MAKERS ONLINE
ONLINE DESIGN AND CRAFT FAIR
13 JUNE – 14 JUNE 2020
9.00AM ONWARD

INTRODUCING A MADE SHOW THE WHOLE WORLD CAN VISIT

MADE MAKERS online fair is Tutton & Young’s response to the recent closure of galleries, shops and events, meaning that there are limited opportunities for makers to sell work.

The fair will provide an opportunity for buyers to be able to make contact with makers again and see exceptional handmade pieces.

A FREE indoor design and craft fair showcasing handmade homeware, jewellery, textiles and more. All from the comfort of your own home!

15% of all sales made at this show will be donated to three charities.

Crafts Council – LET’S CREATE ART PACKS aim to keep children and young people engaged and creative during the Covid-19 lockdown and ensure that children experiencing disadvantage do not miss out on the health, wellbeing, and educational benefits of creativity while away from school. Initially 25,000 packs distributed across the country through Arts Council organisations and local partners, such as charities, local authorities, food banks and community groups. Each box costs £10 and contains art supplies, including pens, pencils, paper, crayons and a scrapbook, as well as a booklet with a selection of creative activities. If you’d like to buy a box for a child you can here

REFUGE – Since lockdown began, calls and contacts to Refuge’s National Domestic Abuse Helpline have rocketed by approximately 50%. They need urgent funds to help meet the demand.

MIND – The COVID-19 pandemic threatens the mental health of millions – especially those of us who were already struggling. Our health and social services are under pressure like never before. Many of us are at risk of falling through the gaps and not receiving the support we desperately need.

Living Object, Going Viral

Screenshot 2020-05-09 at 12.06.34Living Object showcases the pinnacle of modern studio ceramics

Going Viral is a showcase for work that absorbs, questions and re-invents ceramic tradition.

Using new methods, extreme excellence in traditional crafts such as throwing, as well as playful re-interpretation of decorative traditions, the eight makers extend the vocabulary of modern studio ceramics.

These makers are able to continue working safely in small studios and at home on kitchen tables during lockdown. The work will be presented virtually from a purpose-designed space, the Living Object gallery in Stepney, East London.

The exhibits and their placement in the gallery will be revealed first virtually through wireframe computer models. The process of making, delivering and exhibiting will be documented in a series of Instagram posts. The final reveal will include a series of virtual private views where artists and curators walk their virtual visitors through the show.

The Living Object spatial design is by Philip Hughes. Graphic design by David Sudlow Designers.

Graphic artist Anthony Burrill combines a knack for simplicity that packs a punch with analogue craft skills and powerful, positive messages. Burrill frequently collaborates with other forward-thinking creatives across disciples spanning music, architecture, curation, education and more; pushing his traditional discipline of choice, letterpress printing, into bold new territories.

Whether working on an art school pavilion, an acid house record, a book or a poster design, Burrill’s work is instantly recognisable. While his pieces all bear the marks of his letterpress process and all its joyful idiosyncrasies, Burrill’s direct and multidisciplinary approach is one that’s constantly evolving, combining tradition with bold new approaches and technologies.

Words, gentle humour, no-nonsense communication and people are at the heart of Burrill’s practice and his distinctive brand of upbeat messaging: its core DNA is one created through a longstanding passion for creativity, the power of simplicity and an innate curiosity about the world and people in it.
